How much does a private chalet chef cost?
A week of dinners cooked in your chalet starts from €525 a night for your whole group, not per person.
A private chef in your ski chalet costs less than most people expect. For a group of eight, a week of dinners works out at around €66 each for a three-course dinner, cooked, served and cleared away.
This guide explains exactly what you pay for, how prices change through the season, and what to budget for food, so there are no surprises.
What you're paying for
Your price covers your chef's time and service: menu planning, shopping, cooking, serving and a full kitchen clean-down. It's a fee for the chef, not a price per head, so it's the same whether you're four adults or ten adults and children.
Food and drink are separate. Your chef buys the ingredients and you reimburse them at cost, with receipts and no mark-up. That keeps the menu entirely your choice, from hearty alpine classics to a fine-dining tasting menu.
Two ways to book
Dinner only, from one night. Menu planning, shopping, a three-course dinner and kitchen clean-down. Ideal if you eat lunch on the mountain.
Full service, from 4 nights. Breakfast every morning, homemade afternoon tea, children's meals if needed, dinner each evening, all the shopping and the clean-down. Our most popular service.
2026/27 prices for a 7-night week
Prices are for your whole group of up to 10 adults, in euros. No VAT is added.

Courchevel prices are higher: from €4,170 for an off-peak week of dinners, and €4,670 at Christmas and New Year.
Shorter stays are priced by the night. A single dinner off-peak starts from €610 for your group. Stays longer than a week get a long-stay rate on every night after the seventh.
What changes the price
- Your dates. Christmas, New Year and February half term are the busiest weeks in the Alps and cost more.
- Your resort. Courchevel is priced higher than our other resorts.
- Dinner only or full service.
- Number of nights. The nightly rate drops the longer you book.
- Group size. Groups of 11 or more adults need a host as well as a chef (see below).
What doesn't change it: children. The fee is for the chef's time, so children don't cost extra, and their meals usually lower your food bill.
Do we need a host?
Groups of 11 or more adults need a host to serve, clear and keep the evening running smoothly while the chef cooks. A host costs from €200 a day for dinner only, or €230 a day for full service. Many of our chefs work with a regular host, so they arrive as a team.
How much to budget for food
It depends on what you choose to eat. These are typical ingredient costs from past bookings:

Tell your chef your budget when you plan the menu and they'll work to it.
How payment works
- You get a quote with the profiles of the chefs available for your dates.
- You choose your chef and pay a deposit to Mountain Chefs to secure the booking. The deposit is part of the total, not an extra.
- You pay the balance of the chef's fee, plus the food, directly to your chef.
Once your booking is confirmed, the price is fixed.
Is a private chef worth it?
For most groups it works out cheaper than eating out in resort every night, with no booking tables, no queues and no walk home in ski boots. You get restaurant-quality food at your own table, cooked around your dietary needs and your schedule.
